Crochet: Amigurumi: Baby Green Elf

I crochet Baby Green Elf (around 2 inches) almost immediately after I am done with Pinky Pink Doll. And since Christmas is right around the corner, in three weeks' time, I thought it will be nice to use Christmas colours to crochet this mini elf with a bib.

I will say it is quite an improvement as Baby Green Elf is much smaller than Pinky Pink Doll. But then again, he is not exactly what I have in mind. Even though I know I am inching towards crocheting my micro dream doll, it seems like I have a long way to go yet. Well, I guess I just have to keep trying and trying until I finally get it the way I want it to be.

Materials:

1. Crown 4 ply yarn: lime green and dark green
2. Small amount of black yarn for the eyes and red for the mouth
3. Crochet hook, size 2.5mm (Tulip)
4. Stitch markers (Tulip)
5. Tapestry needle
6. Scissors
7. High precision curved point tweezer (optional)

Abbreviations:

mr - magic ring
st - stitch/stitches
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
inc - increase
dec - decrease
ard - around

Pattern:

HEAD

Round 1: 4 sc mr (4 st)
Round 2: 1 inc ard (8 st)
Round 3: *1 sc, 1 inc* Repeat ard (12 st)
Flip over (Do not flip over, it is my mistake to do that for the head)
Round 4: *1 sc, 1 dec* Repeat ard (8 st)
Stuff
Round 5: 4 dec (4 st)
Sl st into next st, fastern off leaving some yarn to weave in

LEG (1st)

Round 1: 4 sc mr (4 st)
Round 2: 1 inc ard (8 st)
Round 3: 1 sc ard (8 st)
Flip over (optional)
Round 4-5: 1 sc ard (8 st)
Stuff
Sl st into next st, fastern off leaving some yarn to weave in

LEG (2nd)

Round 1: 4 sc mr (4 st)
Round 2: 1 inc ard (8 st)
Round 3: 1 sc ard (8 st)
Flip over (optional)
Round 4-5: 1 sc ard (8 st)
Stuff
Sl st into next st, chain 1, join the two legs using sc (see below on BODY), weave in excess yarn at same time

BODY

Round 1-2: 1 sc ard (16 st)
Round 3: *1 dec, 2 sc* Repeat ard (12 st)
Round 4: *1 dec, 1 sc* Repeat ard (8 st)
Round 5: 1 sc ard (8 st)
Stuff
Sl st into next st, fastern off leaving sufficiently long yarn for sewing
